Models Affected by Hyundai and Kia Fire
A total of 2,985,010 cars in the U.S. are potentially affected and at risk of engine fires, according to NHTSA agency filings. The Hyundai and Kia models under investigation include:
- 2010-2015 Kia Soul
- 2011-2014 Kia Optima, Optima hybrid, and Sorento
- 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata, Sonata hybrid, and Santa Fe
- 2013-2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
More than 3,125 complaints of fires were reported by vehicle owners, including at least 103 injuries and one death. The NHTSA is also looking at fires originating in other parts of the vehicles, including the wiring harnesses and tail lights.
