Recent crash tests showed that Jeep Wranglers remain prone to tipping over even in relatively minor accidents, despite modifications since a previous concerning crash test.
During the most-recent testing, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4-door vehicle tipped over onto its passenger side after striking a barrier – the same result a 2019 Jeep Wrangler had in the earlier test. According to the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), “structural modifications made by the manufacturer did not eliminate the issue.”

There are major injury risks when vehicles tip or roll over. A tip or rollover of the Jeep Wrangler poses the threat of passengers being partially or fully ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The Wrangler is particularly vulnerable for this to occur, as the vehicle has a removable roof, removable doors, and lacks side curtain airbags.

The crash test results – and the fact Jeep ignored the problem and continued production of the Wrangler – are extremely worrying. Owners and potential buyers of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler’s should be aware of this rollover issue with the vehicles before driving or purchasing the vehicle.
