February is Cancer Prevention Month, and Cory Watson Attorneys is dedicated to raising awareness about cancer caused by chemical exposure.
The firm has extensive experience handling toxic substance cases including Aqueous Film Forming Foam, ethylene oxide, RoundupⓇ, talcum powder, and asbestos.
“Many of the cancer cases we see at Cory Watson are directly linked to toxin exposure rather than genetics or lifestyle habits,” said Principal Co-Chair Jon Conlin.
“Our firm is committed to advocating for victims as they seek justice against the corporations who fail to protect consumers from carcinogens.”
Notable case types linked to cancer diagnoses include:
- Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF): AFFF or “Firefighter Foam” is a fire suppressant used to extinguish fuel fires containing high levels of PFAS, toxic forever chemicals linked to cancer.
- Ethylene Oxide (EtO): A flammable gas used in industrial and medical applications, regular exposure to EtO has been linked to an increased risk of cancers such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, and Leukemia.
- RoundupⓇ: RoundupⓇ is a popular herbicide manufactured by Monsanto Company. In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the American Cancer Society classified glyphosate, Roundup’s active ingredient, as a probable carcinogen linked to non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
- Talcum Powder: Talcum powder is often used in personal hygiene products, and a woman’s risk of developing cancer could increase if the powder particles travel through the reproductive system and inflame ovarian tissues.
- Asbestos: Widely used until the 1970s in construction, machinery, and military facilities, asbestos exposure can cause mesothelioma, lung cancer, and asbestosis.
Cory Watson Attorneys encourages individuals to stay informed about the dangers of everyday chemicals during Cancer Prevention Month and year-round.
